Overview of relevant institutions

Energy policy

The institutions in charge of energy policy are the Parliament, the Government and the General Directorate for Energy and Climate (DGEC) of the Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and the See (MEEDDM).

The other national institutions:

• The French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN)

• The French National Institute for Radioprotection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN), which is the technical support organization (TSO) of the ASN, although the latter could call upon other institutions
• The National Assessment Board for research and the studies into the management of radioactive waste and materials, an independent reviewing body (CNE)
• The French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA)
